Noorbagh civilian killing: Slain youth laid to rest, KU students stage protest

Students of the Kashmir University staged a protest against the killing of a youth during a search operation in Noorbagh area of Qammarwari in the city.

The students from various departments came out of their classes and assembled in the premises of Humanities department to protest the killing of Muhammad Saleem Malik.

Malik was killed when armed forces opened fire during a cordon and search operation in Noorbagh as there were inputs of presence of militants in the area.

Malik was laid to rest amid pro freedom slogans in Eidgah. Armed forces lobbed tear gas shells as the body of the slain youth was marched from his native place to Eidgah.

Meanwhile, curfew has been imposed in downtown Srinagar to thwart protests against the killing of the civilian.
Internet has also been suspended in Srinagar and adjoining Budgam district.
