Municipal Polls: Woman injured after clashes erupt in Bandipora

Violent protests erupted in Bandipora amid the ongoing Municipal elections and a woman has been injured after sustaining pellet injuries.

According to a report in the Kashmir Reader, Shabeena, wife of Javid Ahmad Dar was injured after being hit by pellets when clashes erupted in Lankreshipora village of Bandipora. Witnesses said that after angry protesters pelted a police vehicle with stones, clashes erupted.

Clashes have also erupted in Plan Bandipora near government girls higher secondary school. The armed forces used teargas shells to disperse the protesters.

Earlier, clashes also erupted in Bagh-e-Mehtab and Machoo area of Srinagar.

Earlier, A Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) candidate was injured when angry protesters attacked him with stones in Bandipora district.

Adil Ahmad Buhru, who is contesting from Ward-15 here, sustained minor injuries when some youth pelted stones at him near Dachigam polling booth this afternoon. Buhru was on his way to the booth to cast his vote.

However, police refuted that the BJP leader was either attacked or injured.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in the valley on call of the Joint Resistance Leadership.
