NSUI President steps down after charges of sexual harassment, Congress accepts resignation

Srinagar: Fairoz Khan, the national president of NSUI has resigned from his post after charges of sexual harassment were leveled against him, reported the Press Trust of India.

According to the report, the Congress president Rahul Gandhi has accepted his resignation.

Khan, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir, submitted his resignation on Monday. The party had set up a three-member committee to look into the issue after a woman levelled charges of sexual harassment against the chief of its youth wing.

The Congress worker from Chhattisgarh also lodged a complaint against him in the Parliament Street police station, saying that she feared for her life.

Fairoz Khan, 28, hails from Mehtra area of Banihal in Ramban district. His forefathers are from Pogal Paristan hills of the district.
