Valley observes shutdown against militant, civilian killings, restrictions imposed in Srinagar

Srinagar: In wake of the civilian and militant killings in Fateh Kadal on Wednesday, Kashmir valley is observing a complete shutdown on call of the Joint Resistance Leadership.

Stringent restrictions have been imposed in various parts of the city particularly the Downtown area. Armed forces have been deployed at the entry and exit points of the old city. At places in the city, pedestrian and vehicular movement was also stooped by the armed forces.

Meanwhile, all the shops and business establishments remained shut across Kashmir and transport remained off the roads.

Two militants Mehrajuddin Bangroo, a top Lashkar commander and Fahad Mushtaq Wani were killed in a gunfight on Wednesday in Fateh Kadal. A civilian Rayees Ahmad was also killed by the armed forces during the gunfight.

Thousands of people participated in the funeral of the trio at the martyrs’ graveyard in Eidgah.
