Srinagar: The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has termed the killing of civilians as a carnage which shows that Kashmir has been turned into a slaughter house.

The JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik said, “Kashmir has been turned into a slaughter house where no young, old, child or women is safe. Indian tyranny and oppression has crossed every limit now and Kashmiris cannot tolerate this silently anymore.”

“Kashmiris will observe a total strike against Kulgam carnage and other oppressive measures on Monday 22nd October 2018 while as on Tuesday 23rd October 2018 people along with JRL leadership will march to Lal chowk and hold a protest sit-in against Indian aggression. Also to highlight Indian aggression against unarmed civilians in Kashmir, JRL is preparing a memorandum to United Nations secretary general.”

Terming Kulgam carnage as a part of ongoing Indian state terrorism in Jammu Kashmir, JRL said, “ruthless killing spree and other acts of suppression by Indian colonial army, SOG, Police and forces have crossed every limit now and Kashmiris cannot tolerate this silently anymore. JRL said that although tyrannical measures by Indian occupation have been continuing from last many decades and have failed to break the resolve of the people of Jammu Kashmir, but after the implementation of new so-called political Governor who is actually acting as a ‘colonial sheriff’, this bloodshed, oppression and tyranny has risen to new heights.

JRL said that recent carnage, arson and destruction at Kulgam, Shupian, Pulwama and at many places in north and central parts of Kashmir during which innocents have been killed at will, people including women, children, old and young have been beaten, tortured and humiliated by sadist Indian forces is a glaring example of this state sponsored terrorism.

“Inhuman killing of pregnant women with fetus in womb, destruction of residential houses by planting explosives or by burning down, devastation of vehicles, house hold goods and killings in custody have risen after the threatening statements of so-called political governor.”

The JRL said that on Tuesday, people along with JRL leadership will march to Lal chowk and hold a protest sit-in against Indian aggression.

Six civilians were killed in a powerful explosion after a gunfight in Laroo village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district in which three militants were killed on Sunday. One more civilian succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS Soura taking the death toll of civilians to six.

The news about the Kulgam killings spread like wild fire and public movement in Srinagar city and major towns of Kashmir valley virtually came to a grinding halt as passenger transport vehicles were rarely moving on very few roads in the Srinagar city.
