Srinagar: Clashes broke out during a search operation launched by armed forces at a village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday morning.
A police official said that around 5:30 AM joint teams of 44 RR, CRPF and SOG personnel laid a seige around Arihal village following inputs about the presence of militants.
While the search operation was in progress, scores of protestors came out of their homes and pelted the forces with stones, he said, adding that the forces responded by firing tear smoke shells.
