Panchayat polls: Till 10 am, polling percentage recorded highest in Udhampur, lowest in Anantnag

Srinagar: The highest polling percentage as of 10 am was recorded in Udhampur area of Jammu region, whereas the lowest was recorded to be at Anantnag, following the beginning of the second phase of the Panchayat polls in the region today.

Over 15 percent voting has been recorded across the state till 10 am.

 

Udhampur received 30.3 percentage, followed by Bandipora at 28.8, Poonch at 27.5, Rajouri at 22.6, Ramban at 18.6, Kathua at 17.8, Doda at 17.3, Kishtwar at 13.5, Kupwara at 11.8, Ganderbal at 10.5, Leh at 6, Kargil at 5.1, Baramulla at 3.5 and Anantnag at 0.5.

The second phase of Panchayat polls kick started in Jammu and Kashmir amid stringent security following intense conflict over the past few weeks in the region, IANS reported.

Large contingents of police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been deployed at the polling stations to ensure a peaceful process, according to the report.

Polling started at 8 am and will end at 2 pm.
