Srinagar: Strong winds and heavy accumulation of snow was slowing down the rescuers who where trying to reach the police post site near Jawahar Tunnel which had been buried due to an avalanche in Kulgam district last evening.
“Rescue teams are trying their best to reach the site. Strong wind and accumulation of snow on the path are making it difficult albeit the teams are nearby the site,” police said on Twitter.

Following the avalanche incident, ten people were reported missing, which included six policemen, two fire service personnel and two prisoners.
The had avalanche hit the north portal of Jawahar Tunnel on the Qazigund side, a police official had said.
Furthermore, the strategic 300 km-long road remained closed for the third consecutive day on Friday due to heavy snowfall and landslides, police stated.
No traffic was allowed on the highway on Friday due to multiple avalanches in the Banihal sector and landslides in the Ramsoo-Ramban area.
