As flight operations resume, massive traffic jam from Hyderpora to Airport causes passengers to miss flights

Srinagar: After Srinagar witnessed fresh snowfall which resulted in cancellation of fights, the resumption of air traffic on Saturday, caused huge traffic jams. Over a 3 Kilo-meter street of Hyderpora-Humhama airport road was seen lined up with cars going towards the airport.

Speaking to Free Press Kashmir, a witness who missed their flight said that long queues of vehicles were seen outside the airport right from Hyderpora.

“I waited around an hour in the queue, and only moved till Humhama Chowk. This was the time that my flight left,” a passenger who was planning to fly to Jammu said.

Some commuters alleged that traffic cops were releasing only VIP vehicles on the wrong side, leaving others fuming.

Irfan Ahmad, a local who lives in the area said that due to slippery roads because of improper snow clearance, and failure of authorities to manage the traffic resulted in a logjam.

Pertinently air traffic at Srinagar International airport was resumed on Saturday after remaining suspended for two days due to poor visibility and snowfall.
