Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) on Sunday while reacting over the government’s decision to withdraw the security of its chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other resistance leaders said that the development is not going to change their principled stand regarding the Kashmir issue.
A spokesperson of the amalgam said that the government knows it well that providing it (security) has no bearing nor can it in any way change the reality of the lingering Kashmir dispute or the situation on ground or “our principled stand and outlook regarding its resolution”.
“With or without these police personnel at Hurriyat residences all remains the same,” he said in a statement.
The spokesperson said whenever the issue has been raked, Mirwaiz has repeatedly said from the pulpit of Jamia Masjid that the Government can withdraw it (security).
He said that the Hurriyat leaders had never asked for it. “In fact, it was the government that insisted on keeping the personnel based on what they said was their assessment of threat perception.”
“It was the Government decision at that time to to keep it, today it’s their decision to remove it. It’s not an issue for us.”
