Srinagar-Jammu Highway remains closed for third consecutive day

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir highway remained closed for the third consecutive day following landslides and the sinking of the road, as per a report by IANS.

“Landslide clearance operation has started at Mom Passi in Ramban-Ramsoo sector. Concrete has been laid to repair the portion of the road that had sunken near the Ramban town. The process of highway restoration will hopefully take four-to-five hours. Thereafter the stranded traffic will be allowed to move carrying out decongestion,” an official of the traffic department said, as detailed in the report.

Citizens who are intending to travel have been advised not to start their journey without contacting traffic department control rooms for information on the latest, the report stated.

The highway had earlier remained closed for six days till February 12, leading to a shortage in essentials like edibles and petroleum products.
