At least six youth detained during nocturnal raids in Sopore

Srinagar: At least six youth were detained by the armed forces in nocturnal raids on charges of stone pelting in Sopore.

According to reports, a huge contingent of armed forces including Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police and other paramilitary forces cordoned Janwara village of Sopore and raided several residential houses and detained at least six residents.

A police official said that the youths have been detained over charges of stone pelting.

On Saturday Sopore witnessed intense clashes between government forces and local youth while a gunfight raged in Warpora village of the area.

On Monday, seven civilians were detained by the armed forces in Arhama village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district during nocturnal raids.
