Kashmir valley shuts on JRL’s call against ‘ill treatment’ of JKLF Chief Malik by NIA
Srinagar: On call of the Joint Resistance Leadership , Kashmir valley observed a shutdown on Tuesday. The strike was called in protest against the ‘ill treatment’ of JKLF Chief Yasin Malik by the NIA.
Reports said that all the business establishments and other commercial activities shut across the valley while traffic is off the roads.
Pertinently, voting is underway in Anantnag district in south Kashmir amidst the shutdown.
Meanwhile, reports said that the train service was suspended on Tuesday for security reasons in the Kashmir valley, as the JRL had called for a general strike.
We have suspended all train runs in the Kashmir valley after an advisory was received from police, a railway official said.
A spokesperson of JRL had said that “NIA’s highhandedness has in fact forced senior resistance leader Muhammad Yasin Malik to go on hunger strike and today his hunger strike has entered 12th day. The life of ailing Yasin Malik who is admitted at RML Hospital Delhi is in danger and rulers and their agencies are busy in playing with his life callously.”
He added, “The shutdown will also be observed to protest the highway ban for two days of the week and the suspension of cross LOC trade as both measures are anti people causing great distress to people and affecting their livelihood.”
