Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Thursday visited the residence of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik at Maisuma in Srinagar.
Mirwaiz was accompanied by senior party leader Bilal Gani Lone. Reports said that Mirwaiz met Malik’s family including his mother and sister and enquired about their well being.
They said that he expressed concern about Malik’s health under the NIA custody and prayed for his early recovery.
On Wednesday, a Delhi court send Malik to judicial custody May 24.
Malik was arrested by NIA in connection with an alleged militancy funding case and was shifted to Delhi jail. Last week Malik’s family while addressing a press conference said that he was seriously ill in the custody of the National Investigation Agency, which also sparked a spontaneous shutdown at Maisuma in Lal Chowk.
The Joint Resistance Leadership had also called for a shutdown on Tuesday against the ‘ill-treatment’meted-out to incarcerated Malik by NIA at Delhi.
