Fresh landslides on JK Highway forces closure for third straight day

Srinagar: The Srinagar-Jammu Highway which had partially opened for traffic was closed again after fresh landslides on Ramban.

Although the traffic was restored late Friday evening, but after fresh landslides near Digdole in Ramban it was again closed for traffic. The official said that the landslides continued on Saturday as well hampering the clearance process.

He said that around 3000 vehicles were stranded on the highway till Friday but the number has gone up to 8000.

The MeT department has predicted rains for the next three days in the state which will likely trigger more landslides and shooting stones on the road.
