Islamia College of Science and Commerce conducts 2nd National Level Conference

Srinagar: The second National level conference was organised by Islamia college of science and commerce inaugurated the two day 2nd National Level Conference where Prof. Nitin Gupta, Head of Mittal school of Business, Lovely Professional University was the key note speaker.

The two day conference on ‘Business & Management in the 21st century-Issues and challenges’ will have 94 paper presenters.

The keynote speaker praised the initiative and said that education should break the barriers and development should be a global task, technological changes and the importance of reinvention and digitization was also the focus. He also talked about how traditional enterprises are responding to these challenges and issues.

“Organizations are changing rapidly with society, we have to change with it or we will be obsolete,” he added.

Prof. (Dr.) Yaseen Ahmad Shah, Principal Islamia College of science and commerce and Director colleges Jammu and Kashmir, while delivering the welcome address stressed upon the industry academia interface so as to ensure employability of students graduating from business school.

He wished the institution great success and hoped in future such conferences will bridge the educational and research gap.

Rafiq lone, Assistant Professor and Organising secretary of the event said that this event is a part of the series of events that they will be doing in the future, it aims at removing isolation that exists between academicians, industrialists and researchers.

“This institution is the largest commerce college of valley and we should make it an interactive place and open doors of discussion and innovations”.

The conference presented 94 papers and all the papers were delivered by experts from the industry, researchers and academicians. The opening ceremony also included the launch of four books co-authored by the faculty, published by Himalayan Publishers, New Delhi.

The conference was sponsored by J&K Bank and HDFC bank.

Owais Rehman, Assistant Vice President HDFC bank and Tafazul Hussan, Ex- Vice President JK Bank praised the coordinators of the conference and highlighted the importance of such events.

Dr. Sayed Untoo, Media secretary of the college said that these events should act as ice breaking sessions for students and open up opportunities for them and let researchers find solutions to challenges and issues that exist in this industry.

“We also aim at creating awareness through these conferences and let our students explore and dive into new ventures,” he said.
