Reports of widespread sexual violence in Sudan, as ‘bodies seen floating’ in river Nile, over 100 believed to be killed
In the past two weeks, at least 100 people have been killed by the armed forces and more than 700 have been injured as protests have steadily engulfed the country’s capital Khartoum.
Peaceful protests have reportedly been met with mass murder & sexual violence. There are reports of widespread sexual violence, arrests, and even shootings in hospitals.
Reports said that bodies were seen floating in the river Nile.
Beyond Khartoum, there have been many reported massacres in historical conflict areas, where early reports said that people are being killed in masses.
People in Sudan started protesting in December 2018 against the rule of former President Hassan al-Bashir, who resigned on April 11, 2019.
At least 19 children are reported to be among the dead and dozens have been sexually abused by the brutal militia groups the country. It’s also been reported that the smell of rotting bodies can be smelt in the schools.
The army then took over and has been ruling ever since. But ‘pro-democracy demonstrators’ want power to be handed to civilians and have been protesting.
A sit-in has been staged outside the army headquarters in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum. But for the past month the military rulers have been cracking down.
