Two JeM militants killed in Bejbehara played a ‘key role’ in Pulwama attack, says Indian Army

Srinagar: Army on Tuesday said that two militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit killed in Marhama area of Bijbehara were key players in the suicide attack on CRPF near Lethpora Pulwama on February 14 this year.

Around 49 CRPF personnel were killed in the attack which brought India and Pakistan very close to a full blown war.

The two slain militants have been identified as Sajad Maqbool Bhat son of Mohd Maqbool Bhat and Tawseef Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Ashraf Bhat, both residents of Marhama village.

While one of them Sajad Maqbool Bhat alias Afzal Guru alias Hafiz had provided his vehicle for the blast another militant Tawseef Ahmad Bhat was his handler, General Officer Commanding of 15 Corps Lt Gen Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon said.

“Sajad was the one who managed the vehicle for Pulwama 14 February CRPF IED incident. Tawseef was his handler,” the GOC said.

The JeM duo, he said were killed in a gunfight with army’s 3 RR in village Marhama on Tuesday morning.

An Army man was also killed while three other personnel suffered injuries during the operation.
