‘Made in India, made for the world’: Modi wants India to have a role in global supply chain

Speaking at industry association Confederation of Indian Industry annual session, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi said the government has taken tough steps to fight the pandemic and also taken care of India’s economy, as reported by Times of India.

He focused on his vision of “AtmaNirbhar Bharat” (self reliant India) and pitched for products that are made in India for the world; relying less on imports.

“Made in India, Made for the World” is the new mantra offered by the Indian PM. He urged the manufacturers to create local supply chains for India to play a significant role in the global supply chain arena.

He further said that his confidence comes from the farmers, small businessmen and entrepreneurs of the country.

Describing MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) as the country’s economic engine, he outlined steps taken for small industries hit by the pandemic and also listed measures to boost farmers, reports NDTV.

“Our government has now allowed farmers the freedom to sell their products to anyone they wish to for the best price they get,” he said.

Only a few days ago India’s GDP showed the slowest growth in 11 years.

“We will get the growth back. Trust me, it is not all that difficult,” Prime Minister said while addressing the gathering of industrialists.

He also spoke about the courage of his government in taking bold decisions and ensuring its proper implementation in a time-bound manner, reported NDTV.
