Restaurants selling Chinese food should be banned, says Union Minster Ramdas Athawale
As tensions rise between India and China with the armies of both countries engaged in a violent standoff in Ladakh, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has demanded the banning of Chinese food and restaurants selling Chinese foods.
“Restaurants selling Chinese food should be banned. I appeal to people to boycott Chinese food,” a news agency, Asian News International, quoted Ramdas Athawale as saying.
On Monday night, at least twenty Indian army personnel, including a Colonel, were killed in a violent face-off in Galwan Valley of Ladakh.
As per the statement of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the incident took place “as a result of an attempt by the Chinese side to unilaterally change the status quo there.”
Protests were held against China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Jammu, Ahmedabad, Varanasi, Indore, Kanpur, and other places. People burnt Chinese flag printouts, A-4 size posters of Xi Jinping and China-made products.
In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a protest was held by Congress workers on Tuesday evening, where they shouted anti-China slogans.
In Ahmedabad, Gujarat protestors burnt flags and shouted anti-China slogans.
