Talks on, but no guarantee to what extent dispute with China can be resolved, says Rajnath Singh

After visiting forward areas in Ladakh, Rajnath Singh prayed at Amarnath Cave

Srinagar: The Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh arrived in Leh on Friday (July 17) morning as part of his 2-day trip to Ladakh and Kashmir, visited forward areas in the Ladakh sector to review the ground situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Ladakh sector.

Singh interacted with the troops of the Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at the Lukung post, adjacent to the Pangong Tso Lake with an aim to boost their morale.

Amid the ongoing disengagement talks to de-escalate the stand-off between the armies of the two Asian neighbours along the LAC, the Defence Minister said that not one inch of India’s land can be taken by any power in the world.

He further added that the talks are on to resolve the dispute, however, there’s no guarantee to what extent it can be resolved.

“Talks are underway to resolve the border dispute but to what extent it can be resolved I cannot guarantee. I can assure you, not one inch of our land can be taken by any power in the world. If a solution can be found by talks, there is nothing better,” he said.

Rajnath Singh addressed the Indian Army and ITBP soldiers, where he paid tribute to the soldiers killed in Galwan clash.

He said, “recently what happened between troops of India and China at PP14, how some of our personnel sacrificed their lives protecting our border. I am happy to meet you all but also saddened because of their loss. I pay my tributes to them.”

After the visit to Ladakh, Singh on Saturday visited the Amarnath cave in Kashmir and offered prayers. Singh spent about an hour at the temple complex.
