India records highest single day spike of 40,425 COVID infections, tally crosses 11 lakh

Srinagar: Coronavirus is giving India a tough fight as more than 40,425 fresh infections and 681 deaths were recorded on Sunday alone. The total  COVID death toll now stands at 27,497 and the number of infections has crossed the 11 lakh mark.

According a data showed by Health Ministry of India, Maharashtra continues to report the highest number of cases, followed by Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Karnataka, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.

On Saturday, the worst-hit COVID state of India, Maharashtra crossed 3 lakh infection cases and has reported more than 11000 deaths so far, followed by Delhi with the second-highest number of deaths (3628).
