New Delhi: An Uttar Pradesh based journalist, Vikram Joshi, who works with a local daily was shot in the head in Ghaziabad near Delhi on Monday night.

Vikram was on his motorcycle with his two daughters when a mob of around 4-5 men (as seen in the CCTV footage) attacked him and shot him in the head. The journalist was shifted to Yashoda Hospital where his condition is said to be critical.

Vikram Joshi’s brother Aniket Joshi said the UP journalist had recently submitted a written complaint in Vijay Nagar police station in which he alleged that some men had misbehaved with his niece, India Today reported.

The FIR was registered under Indian Penal Code sections 307 (attempted murder), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (act done by several people with a common intention) on complaint by Joshi’s brother.

Talking to NDTV, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ghaziabad, Kalanidhi Naithani said nine people, including two of the three named in the FIR, have been arrested while the local police post in-charge was suspended in the wake of the incident.
