Srinagar: Authorities on Saturday reported 523 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus, 156 from Jammu division and 367 from Kashmir, thus taking the total number of cases in JK to 17,305.
The erstwhile state has also reported nine deaths- 1 from Jammu division and 8 from Kashmir.
Moreover, 300 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals – 41 from Jammu and 259 Kashmir Division.
According to the daily media bulletin, out of 17,305 positive cases, 7,483 are Active Positive, 9,517 have recovered and 305 have died so far- 22 in Jammu and 283 in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 5,70,508 test results available, 5,53,203 samples have been tested as negative till July 25, 2020.
Additionally, till date, 350946 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 43,332 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 12 in Hospital Quarantine, 7,483 in hospital isolation and 40852 under home surveillance. Besides, 258962 persons have completed their surveillance period.
According to the bulletin, of the total 17,305 positive cases in J&K 3832 have been reported as travellers while 13,473 as others.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID is by maintaining a physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitiser or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
In case of any emergency, people can avail free ambulance services 24×7 at their doorsteps by calling on toll-free number 108 while as pregnant women and sick infants can avail free ambulance services by dialling toll-free number 102.
The statement added that COVID testing in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 44744 as against 12742 in the country, even as the recovery rate in the erstwhile state has touched 53.01 per cent as on July 23, 2020.
Besides testing and other measures, J&K administration has evacuated around 2,60,615 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.
As per the official data received in this regard, the administration has received 94 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 79,199 passengers while about 1,81,416 persons from other states and UTs including 901 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.
