COVID claims another life, toll reaches 360 in JK

Srinagar: Kashmir valley on Thursday reported one more death due to novel coronavirus, eleventh since last night, thus taking the fatality count due to the virus in Jammu and Kashmir to 360.

Reports said that deceased patient from Anantnag passed away this afternoon, following the death of ten patients from different places of the valley on Wednesday.

Earlier, four deaths took place at CD hospital, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the COVID patients, three at SKIMS Soura including a 55-year-old armed forces personnel, while two persons died at Government Medical College Baramulla and one, an 80-year-old man from Shopian, at District Hospital Pulwama.

The deaths reported from CD hospital include a 50-year-old woman from Batamaloo Srinagar, a 70-year-old Keegam Shopian, a man from Humhama Budgam and a 65-year-old man from Naseembagh Srinagar.

So far 235 deaths have been reported in Kashmir and 25 in Jammu division of the erstwhile state.

On Wednesday, authorities in JK informed that 540 new positive COVID cases- 151 from Jammu division and 389 from Kashmir, have been reported thus taking the total number of positive cases in the erstwhile state to 19419.

They informed that fifteen deaths have been reported; 01 from Jammu division and 14 from Kashmir Division in a day.

Moreover, 437 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 70 from Jammu Division and 367 from Kashmir.

According to the daily bulletin, out of 19419 positive cases, 7749 are Active Positive, 11322 have recovered and 348 have died; 25 in Jammu division and 323 in Kashmir.

The Bulletin further said that out of 615380 test results available, 595961 samples have been tested as negative till July 29, 2020.
