3 armed forces personnel of Assam Rifles killed, 6 injured in militant ambush in Manipur

Srinagar: Three armed forces personnel of Assam Rifles were killed and six others injured in a deadly ambush on the Army unit near the Myanmar boder in Chandel district south of Imphal in Manipur.

On Wednesday night, the attack took place late at a location 100 km south of Imphal near the Myanmar border in Sajik Tampak in Chandel district, a report by India Today said.

The details of the incident were also shared by the senior editor at a Delhi based news organisation India Today, Shiv Aroor, on his twitter handle.

“3 Assam Rifles soldiers killed, several injured in an ambush last night at 100 km south of Imphal near Myanmar border. On Jul 29, unit had launched area domination patrol in Khongtal. At 1845, when ADP was returning, insurgents detonated an IED & opened small-arms fire,” Aroor tweeted.

Reports said army unit had launched an area domination patrol in Khongtal, however, when the patrol team was returning, insurgents exploded an IED and opened fire on the unit.

In the incident, armed forces personnel of Assam Rifles were killed and six others left injured, who were later shifted to a military hospital in Leimakhong in Imphal West District.
