COVID claims 7 more lives in JK, toll reaches 373

Srinagar: With the seven fresh deaths in Jammu and Kashmir due to the novel coronavirus since last evening, the death toll has mounted to 373 in the erstwhile state.

Official sources said that four of the victims were from Srinagar, two from South Kashmir’s Pulwama district and a 56-year-old person, from Jammu’s Shakti Shakti Nagar.

On Thursday, the Jammu and Kashmir administration informed that 450 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus have been detected in the erstwhile state, thus taking the total number of positive cases in JK to 19869. JK also reported 17 COVID deaths, 1 from Jammu and 16 from Kashmir division.

Moreover, 520 more patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 189 from Jammu and 331 from Kashmir.

According to the daily bulletin, out of 19869 positive cases, 7662 are Active Positive, 11842 have recovered and 365 have died, 26 in Jammu and 339 in Kashmir.

The bulletin further said that out of 627387 test results available, 607518 samples have been tested as negative till July 30, 2020.

Additionally, till date, 366937 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 47281 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 6 in hospital quarantine, 7662 in hospital isolation and 40583 under home surveillance. Besides, 271040 persons have completed their surveillance period.

Meanwhile, amid the COVID outbreak, the erstwhile state administration has made all the arrangements for passengers travelling by air, with proper COVID guidelines.

On day 67 of resumption of routine domestic operations in JK, 25 domestic flights with 2,463 passengers on board today arrived at Jammu and Srinagar Airports.

A total of 777 passengers aboard 10 regular commercial flights arrived at the Jammu Airport while 15 domestic flights with about 1686 passengers on board landed at Srinagar Airport today.

After arrival, all the passengers were tested for the COVID and transported to their destinations at both the airports amid strict observance of all necessary preventive protocols.

The administration has made elaborate arrangements for the arrival, screening, sampling and proper transportation of the passengers to the quarantine centres taking special care of guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) prescribed by the Union Ministries of Civil Aviation and Health and Family Welfare.
