Army personnel killed in cross LoC firing in Rajouri

Srinagar: An armed forces personnel was killed on Friday night in a fresh exchange of fire between the armies of India and Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.

Officials on the Indian side said that during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, Pakistan resorted to firing and “violated” ceasefire on Line of Control in Tarkundi, and Balakote areas in Rajouri, to which Indian Army retaliated effectively.

In the incident, one armed personnel, a resident of Punjab, who was posted on LoC, received multiple splinter injuries.

The injured personnel was soon evacuated to a nearby army medical centre where he succumbed to his injuries.
