COVID claims 3 more lives in JK, toll reaches 412

Srinagar: Kashmir valley reported three more deaths due to COVID since overnight, taking the fatality count due to the virus to 412 in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said on Tuesday.

They said that two among the deaths include an a-65-year-old woman from Budgam, a 75-year-old man from Srinagar’s Khaniyar area and a Badgam resident aged 65 who died at SKIMS Soura. The other two deaths were reported at CD hospital, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the COVID patients in Kashmir valley.

With these three deaths, the fatality count due to the virus has risen to 412 in J&K- 381 in Kashmir and 30 in Jammu.

Srinagar district with 136 deaths tops the list followed by Baramulla 72, Budgam 30, Kulgam 29, Anantnag 26, Shopian 23, Pulwama 23, Kupwara 21, Jammu 21, Bandipora 14, Ganderbal 7, two each in Rajouri and Doda and one each in Ramban, Samba, Poonch, Udhampur, and Kathua.

Earlier on Monday, the Jammu and Kashmir administration informed that 590 new COVID cases have been reported in JK, thus taking the total number of positive cases to 22006.

The administration also informed that 11 fresh COVID deaths were reported today- 2 from Jammu division and 9 Kashmir.

Moreover, 905 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals- 160 from Jammu and 745 from Kashmir.
