JK Admin lists 36 ‘achievements’ as UT in one-year report card sent to MHA
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has listed three dozen achievements from last year after JK was bifurcated into two Union Territories – JK and Ladakh, on August 5, 2019.
The report card of the “achievements” prepared by the JK administration was sent to the office of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), India.
Quoting the report card, a report published by Delhi based news organization NDTV, said that JK administration has made progress in the spheres of education, health, power and land reforms with special focus on providing education, training and job opportunities to its youth.
The new “achievement list”, according to the report, includes the opening of 50 new degree colleges offering a total of 25,000 seats, seven new medical colleges with 1,400 extra medical, paramedical seats, five new nursing colleges and one state cancer institute.
“The State Staff Commission Board has started its recruitment drive, advertisements have been put out and the process is ongoing at each stage,” NDTV quoted JK Rural Development Secretary Sheetal Nanda as saying.
According to data offered by the administration, it has announced 10,000 job opportunities for youngsters at various levels. Pertinently, the advertisements for the various vacancies have been placed for Grade 1V jobs and 1,800 accountants, in JK.
“Almost 2,000 account assistants are being recruited to assist Panchayats in smoothly executing its ever-increasing basket of functions,” a senior functionary in the power corridors of Delhi’s North Block told the news organization.
The official, according to the report, added that National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj has been roped in for conducting a study and recommending staffing pattern for Panchayats so they have their own cadre for implementation of government schemes.
RD Secretary added that a new government scheme called Himayat- meant to hire local youth after training, is turning out to be a great success.
“School and college dropouts are given are given training as per their skills and out of the ones who are trained 70 per cent are given wage employments,” Sheetal was further quoted as having said, adding that project is aimed to generate sustainable livelihood opportunities through self-employment for the youth of JK.
According to the MHA’s “achievement list,” the administration said that under the Himayat project, youngsters trained as “support for staff in hospitals and on ambulance duty” during the COVID outbreak.
Besides this, the report said, the administration has launched a Student Health Card scheme to ensure regular medical check-up of school-going children.
The new data By MHA shows that 8 lakh youngsters have been benefitted by the Himayat scheme and 4,76,670 students were benefitted in last year’s Minority Pre-Matric Scholarship scheme.
