JK reports fresh 482 COVID infections, death toll at 498

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday informed that 482 fresh COVID cases were detected today in JK, thus mounting the overall toll to 26413.

The erstwhile state also reported 8 fresh deaths during the last 24 hours.

Moreover, 544 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 88 from Jammu and 456 from Kashmir.

According to the daily bulletin, out of 26,413 positive cases, 7392 are Active Positive, 18,523 have recovered and 498 have died- 37 in Jammu division and 461 in Kashmir.

The Bulletin further said that out of 7,50,487 test results available, 7,24,434 samples have been tested as negative till August 12, 2020.

Additionally, till date 402509 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42,494 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,392 in isolation and 48,726 under home surveillance.

Besides, 3,03,399 persons have completed their surveillance period.

According to the bulletin, of the total 26413 positive cases in J&K 5,194 have been reported as travellers while 21,219 as others.

The administration has also evacuated about 3,05,673 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur  and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

As per the official data received in this regard, the JK administration has received 112 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 94,227 passengers while about 2,11,446 persons from other states and UTs including 906 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.

As per the detailed breakup of the figures, about 1702 stranded passengers  have entered through Lakhanpur from August 11 to August 12 mornings while 958 passengers have reached today in the 91st Delhi COVID special train at Jammu.

So far, 91 trains have reached Jammu with a total of 78,531 stranded passengers belonging to different districts while 15,696 passengers have reached Udhampur in 21 special trains, so far.
