Srinagar: Hours, after three armed forces personnel were killed in a suspected militant attack in Kreeri Baramulla district, an exchange of gunfire between the militants and armed forces personnel begun and resulted in the killing of one militant so far.
“In the ensuing gunfight, a militant has been killed and firing from both sides is going on,” official sources said.
They said that as the searches for assailants in Kreeri, post-attack leaving 3 armed forces personnel dead, began, contact was established with the militants.
“A joint team of Army, CRPF and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police, launched a Cordon and Search Operation in outskirts of Baramulla soon after the attack,” an official source said.
He added that while chasing the militants, a joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering a gunfight, he said.
