Top LeT commander killed in Baramulla gunfight, says IGP Kashmir

Srinagar: A top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander was killed in a gunfight in Saloosa area of Kreeri in Baramulla district on Saturday.

Inspector-General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that top commander of LeT was killed in a gunfight at Saloosa, Kreeri.

He identified the slain militant as Anees, Alias Chota Sultan, from Pakistan.

Sultan, according to an official, was active since 2018 and was operating in Sopore, Zangeer and Bandipore areas. One AK-47 and 5 magazines were recovered from the slain militant, the official added.

Pertinently, this is the second gunfight in Baramulla district this week. Earlier, eight killings including the killing of 3 militants, 2 Army personnel, 2 CRPF and 01 SPO of JK police, were reported in a gunfight at Kreeri.
