Armed forces personnel killed, 2 others injured in cross LoC firing in Kupwara

Srinagar: An armed forces personnel was killed and two others were injured as India and Pakistan troops exchanged gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) at Naugam sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Official sources said that the Pakistani army “targeted” Indian army posts in Naugam sector in which one army personnel identified as Bopender Singh was killed while Lance Naik Venkatesh and Sepoy Shajal were injured.

Soon after the incident, the injured duo was shifted to army’s 92 Base hospital for the treatment.

Official sources added that Indian army gave a befitting reply to “ceasefire violation” by the Pakistani army.

When contacted defence ministry spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia, he said that details will be shared later on.
