The Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council has announced the schedule of the IPL 2020 season on Sunday.

The season will start with team Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings match on September 19.

“The season will kick start on September 19, in Abu Dhabi with a blockbuster clash between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings,” said a statement.

IPL Fixtures have been announced today, confirmed Chairman Brijesh Patel bringing an end to all speculations. All eight teams are currently awaiting the fixtures as that will help them plan ahead.

It is reportedly believed that the delay was caused after two CSK players and 13 support staff members tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

All sides have now started training for the long 53-day tournament in UAE. IPL 13 is scheduled to start on September 19 and the final will take place on November 10. Three venues across UAE will be used for the tournament to reduce the travelling of players amid the pandemic.

The chairman had earlier said that schedule will be announced today. “Schedule of IPL 2020 that starts from 19th September in UAE will be released tomorrow,” chairman Patel had said.
