3 persons arrested for ‘hoisting Pakistani flag’ in Bandipora, says police ‘incriminating material recovered’

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested three persons from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district for hosting a Pakistan flag in the district and recovered a hand grenade from their possession.

“On a credible input, Bandipora Police have arrested three militant associates affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and incriminating material including a hand grenade and flag making equipments have been recovered from their possession,” police said.

A police spokesman said that soon after police in Bandipora received an information that some persons at the behest of “local active militant of LeT have hoisted Pakistani flags at Main Bazar Hajin in order to create fear psychosis and incite anti-national feelings among the common people of Hajin area.”

Accordingly, case FIR No 35/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Hajin and investigation was taken up. During the course of investigation, officers learnt about the involvement of three individuals involved in the commission of crime.

They have been arrested and identified as Mujeeb Shamas, Tanveer Ahmad Mir and Imtiyaz Ahmad Sheikh all residents of Mir Mohalla Hajin.

Incriminating material including 01 Hand Grenade, Flags, Flag making cloth, sewing machine and other material used for preparing flags were recovered from them. Further investigation of the case is going on.
