No lockdown on Sundays in UP, markets to remain open except COVID containment zones

In a fresh decision announced by the government of Uttar Pradesh in India, the Sunday lockdown throught the state has been lifted under ‘Unlock 4.’

The Chief Minister of the state, Yogi Adityanath has said that hotels and restaurants should be made operational in all areas of Uttar Pradesh except for the containment zones.

With the latest order, markets will now remain open on Sundays and will be closed as per the earlier practice instead of the weekly closure.

Earlier, the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs announced the ‘Unlock 4.0’ allowing the resumption of metro services across India and said that the states “cannot impose local lockdown” outside containment zones without consulting the Central Government.

According to a report by TimesNow, Adityanath while addressing a meeting on Tuesday directed the officials to educate and aware people about the coronavirus pandemic. The officials were also directed to test the people living in such areas and to take measures for the safety of health workers from the deadly virus.

According to the Health Ministry of India, there are 62,144 active cases in Uttar Pradesh with 3,920 deaths so far.
