FIR filed against man for ‘inviting large number of guests on marriage’ amid COVID outbreak, says police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said that an FIR was registered against a man for violating the government orders and ‘gathering a large number of invitees on a marriage ceremony’ in Solina area of Srinagar.

A police spokesman said that on September 09, 2020 at about 22:30 hours, sounds of some huge bangs were heard from Solina Payeen area which created panic in the vicinity. People of the area called PS Shergarhi for curbing the nuisance in the area.

“Preliminary enquiry revealed that the blast like sound in Solina area that created panic was due to the bursting of fire crackers in a marriage ceremony in the house of Ghulam Nabi Bhat resident of Solina Payeen,” the spokesperson said.

Police added that the owner of the house has violated the orders of District Magistrate Srinagar and also gathered large number of invitees at his house which is the clear “violation of COVID SOP and thereby endangering the lives of others.”

Accordingly, a case FIR No 45/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Shergarhi and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
