Body of ‘suspected militant’ recovered after 4 days of searches in Budgam

Srinagar: Four days after the exchange of fire took place between armed forces personnel and militants in Budgam district, an unidentified body was recovered from Sukhnag Nallah of the district where search operation to was going on from the last four days.

Official sources said that armed forces personnel recovered an unidentified body believed to be of a “militant”, from Sukhnag Nallah at Kawoosa area of the district.

Four days ago, a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Kawoosa area of Narbal on Monday afternoon based on a specific input about the presence of militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering a gunfight. It was also believed that one of the militants “while fleeing had jumped into the Nallah.”

The officials added that boats were pressed into service to trace the body in the nallah and on Thursday some ammunition was recovered by from the Nallah.

“Today morning, an unidentified body, believed to be of a militant was fished out,” the officials said, adding that identification of the person is being ascertained.

As per the sources, the slain militant has been identified as Aqib Lone, a resident of Kandi Aglar Pulwama in south Kashmir, believed to be affiliated with JeM.
