Srinagar: Tourist police on Saturday reportedly detained two women from North Kashmir’s Kupwara district along with an Army soldier when they were walking in suspicious state at Srinagar Airport.

They were detained and handed over to police station Humhama.

News Agency Kashmir News Trust quoted sources as having said that these women and the army soldier were detained and handed over to police station Humhama where they are being questioned.

However, police officials have said that “nobody was detained and questioned. The women were without tickets.”

The army soldier in question has been identified as Sepoy Roshan Kumar of 17 Bihar Regiment. Both the women are from Teetwal Kupwara and the soldier in question is also posted at Teetwal.

KNT reported that during questioning the women have revealed that they had ‘come to Airport to see off the soldier as he is their family friend’.

Presently, those without tickets are not allowed to go inside the airport to see off their families by the airport security near the gate.

Pertinently, on September 12 this month, Lance Naik Ashok Kumar Paul son of Rajander Pal, a resident of Uttar Pradesh who deputed at Ajas Bandipora with 13 Rashtriya Rifles was arrested with two women, who later said that they were there by their own will.
