72,049 COVID cases reported in 24 hours take India’s tally to 67,57,131

New Delhi: With 72,049 new Coronavirus cases reported in the last 24 hours in India, the country has recorded 67,57,131 cases so far.

According to data shown by the Health Ministry of India, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have reported the highest number of cases.

Maharashtra reported 12,258 new cases on Tuesday and 370 deaths, taking the total caseload to 14,65,911 and deaths to 38,717. The fatalities reported on Tuesday were significantly higher than the 263 deaths reported on Monday. For the fourth consecutive day, the daily tally of COVID cases in Mumbai dropped. On Tuesday, the city registered 1,625 cases – lowest in 28 days and a drop of over 10% from the previous day tally of 1,813.

However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 85 per cent.

Globally, there are 36,053,816 cases, death rate stands at 10,54,721 and 27,156,297 people have recovered.
