Shopian: Two civilians were injured during clashes between armed forces personnel and civilians at Sugan village of Zainapora belt in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Eyewitnesses told Free Press Kashmir that two brothers identified as Basit Muqbool and Ehsan Muqbool, residents of Sugan Shopian were injured after receiving pellet injuries in clashes with the armed forces personnel near the site of the military operation against militants.
Official sources from District Hospital Pulwama said that both the injured persons were brought to the hospital and then referred to SMHS Srinagar for advanced treatment.
In the military operation against militants in Sugan, three militants identified as Sajad Malla of Maldera Shopian, Junaid Rasheed of Tumlahaal Pulwama and Mehraj din of Arigam Pulwama were killed.
The operation began after a joint team of Police, army’s 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
Officials said that as the joint teams of armed forces personnel approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an operation.
