697 COVID cases reported in 24 hours take JK’s toll to 81,793, deaths at 1,291

Srinagar: In the last 24 hours, Jammu and Kashmir recorded nine COVID related deaths pushing the fatality count to 1,291. JK also reported 696 fresh positive cases pushing the tally to 81,793. Of late, the mortality figures and positive cases have started falling compared to the past few months.

Of the total 81,793 cases, 49,008 are from Kashmir and 32,785 from Jammu division. Officials said that among 696 new cases, 420 belong to Kashmir division while as 276 are from Jammu division.

The total numbers of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 49,008 including 41,928 recoveries and 882 deaths while as total numbers of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 32,785 including 27,092 recoveries and 409 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 11,482 including 6,198 from Kashmir division and 5,284 from Jammu division.

With 1,336 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 69,020 which is 84.38 per cent of the total cases

Meanwhile, JK administration has informed that it evacuated about 5,69,411 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

As per the official data received in this regard, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has received 155 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 1,40,292 passengers while about 4,29,119 persons from other states and UTs including 934 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.

As per the detailed breakup of the figures, about 7066 stranded passengers have entered through Lakhanpur from October 07 to October 08 mornings while 134 trains have reached Jammu with a total of 124,596 stranded passengers belonging to different districts so far while 15,696 passengers have reached Udhampur in 21 special trains, so far. Also, no train arrived at Jammu today.
