Hangul captured in Awantipora, shifted to Dachigam National Park

Awantipora: Wild Life Team on Monday said that they have captured a Hangul in Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district and shifted it to Dachigam National Park Srinagar.

An official said that after the information from locals that a Hangul is sighted in Buhoo Awantipora area, Wild Life team from Tral “rushed to the spot” and after “hard efforts” captured the Hangul.

Pictures however show very rough handling of the animal by a group of people who do not seem to be professionals.

No tranquilliser seemed to have been used, and locals can be seen clicking photos of the animal.

Hangul or Kashmir Stag is one of the rarest deer in the world found only in the Kashmir Valley.

Last year, a Hangul was captured from Tral area while a herd of around 6 to 8 deer were seen in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district recently.

The official said that captured Hangul was shifted to Dachigam National Park Srinagar.
