Shopian: A military operation against militants has started in Chakoora area of Harmain belt in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.

Official sources said that a joint team of Police, army’s 34 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
They said that as the joint teams of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them ensuing the operation.
Police officials said that gunfire between the armed forces personnel and militants is going on.
