Army officer injured in cross LoC firing in Rajouri

Rajouri: An army officer was injured after the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged gunfire along the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

Officials on the Indian side said that Pakistan army resorted to firing mortar shells and other arms in Rajouri’s Sunderbani area, to which the “Indian army responded befittingly”.

The incident resulted in injuries to Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) identified as Gopalan of 17 Madras.

“Gopalan suffered right-hand splinter injuries and has been hospitalised,” a police officer told news agency GNS.
