Bandipora: Sarpanch’s death not suicide, was killed by wife and another man, says Police

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir police Thursday claimed to have solved a murder case in north Kashmir’s district Bandipora.

In a statement issued, a spokesperson of the police said, “on the 12-10-2020 police post Aloosa recieved an information that one person namely Javid Ahamad Dar S/o Abdul Ahad Dar R/o Zurmanz age about 35 years has died by suicide at his home by hanging self.”

The deceased according to a local news gathering agency Kashmir Despatch was a Sarpanch.

Taking cognizance of the case proceedings under section 174 /CRPC were initiated and also for finding the real facts, a SIT under the supervision of SSP Bandipora and headed by DySP Hqrs Bandipora was consituted, the statement read.

Adding that during the course of investigation and from Spot visit of SIT, it surfaced that the case looks more of a murder than suicide.

“Many suspects were brought for questioning and during that process it came to light that wife of the deceased along with another person namely Shahzad Ahamd Dar, who were in extra marital affair with each other, administered some sedative drugs to deceased and strangulated him to death,” the spokesperson said.

Consequently, Case FIR No. 116/2020 U/S 302 IPC was registered in PS- Bandipora and further investigation taken up. Both persons have admitted their crime and have been arrested. Further Investigation is going on.
