India, Pakistan trade fire, shelling along LoC in JK’s Poonch

Srinagar: The armies of India and Pakistan on Wednesday exchanged fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

An army spokesman said that Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation at 9:15 am by firing with small arms and shelling mortars along LoC in Shahpur, Kirni and Qasba sectors of the district.

He said the Indian Army was retaliating befittingly.

As per Indian officials, the Pakistan Army has violated the ceasefire 13 times this month.

On October 1, an Army soldier was killed and another injured, in shelling along the LoC in Krishnagati area of Poonch district, officials said.
