‘Stray bullet’ from Air Force firing range injures woman in Budgam, locals demand closure

Budgam: A woman was injured at her home on Friday when a stray bullet came down through the roof and hit her in the leg in Woolina village of the central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

The woman identified as Fatima, wife of late Ghulam Rasool Rather was at home and suddenly a bullet that fell from the roof hit her on the leg. However, the injured woman was later taken to District Hospital Budgam by the relatives for treatment, a senior police officer confirmed to a local news agency GNS.

Official sources said that some bullets came from airport side and fell down on roofs of the houses in the Woolina village leaving one of the householders injured.

Soon after the incident, people took to the streets and blocked the main road connecting Doodpathri and Chadoora with Budgam and demanded strict action and closure of nearby firing range.
