After Bijbehara, armed forces attacked in south Kashmir’s Awantipora: Police

Awantipora: Hours after an attack on armed forces personnel in Bijbehara, suspected militants on Thursday afternoon fired upon a joint team of armed forces personnel in Kadibal area of south Kashmir’s Awantipora.

A senior police officer told a local news agency GNS that militants fired upon a joint team of armed forces personnel including police and CRPF from a distance. Quoting a senior police officer news agency Kashmir News Observer reported that militants first lobbed a grenade on a joint party of CRPF and JK police at Kadalbal, followed by firing. However, no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.

Meanwhile, armed forces have launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

Hours before the incident, an armed forces personnel belonging to 40 battalion of CRPF was injured after suspected militants lobbed a grenade on armed forces party in Bijbehara town of Anantnag. The armed forces personnel identified as Patil Parmakar was later shifted to hospital for treatment.
